Gantt Chart is an amazing tool for tracking & monitoring a projects’ progress throughout its life cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

If in real life a picture is worth a thousand words then in project management the Gantt chart is worth a thousand times more than a task list or a to-do list!<\/span><\/p>\n

Few project management applications\u00a0on the market today provide real useful Gantt charts and even fewer provide interactive charts.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are not familiar with Gantt charts and how they are used in project management, a good resource for learning is the introduction to Gantt \u00a0Chart software<\/a>\u00a0which I wrote recently.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have had a chart in our application for several years now and it has been cited by our customers as the most significant factor for choosing\u00a0Binfire for their project management needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gantt Chart road-map<\/span><\/h3>\n

For a Gantt to be effective, it needs to display the project information to the user in a simple and yet comprehensive\u00a0manner.<\/span><\/p>\n

The user should have the ability to show more or less data, hide sub-tasks and changes details on the chart itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following are the current Gantt features which have been available in Binfire from the day the one. This chart\u00a0is an interactive tool for creating and adjusting tasks in real-time.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Extend the task’s duration by using mouse drag & drop<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Shorten task’s duration<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Add and remove dependencies<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Complete a task partially or in full (completed). The percentage of the work done is shown in dark purple color.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Move a task forward & backward in time again using drag and drop<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Show or hide sub-tasks to make the chart easier to follow<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. To see and edit Task’s details in the Gantt Chart\u00a0by clicking on the task’s name<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Waterfall view, which displays the tasks from the earliest to the latest in the project. This creates a waterfall which is much easier to look and follow.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The above is an impressive feature list, but we don’t think it is enough. The following is the list of new improvements\/features we are working on making the\u00a0Gantt even more awesome. These new features should be available in the next few months:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Add new tasks directly in the chart<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Delete tasks in the chart<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Task ordering filter to let the user decide how they want tasks to be ordered in the chart.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Portfolio Gantt; all your projects in one awesome Gantt chart. This is a great feature for project managers working on multiple projects sharing the same resources.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Add dependencies from a task from one project to a task from another project<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      We believe a great Gantt chart can make it easier to track, adjust and monitor your projects and tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n

      This will cut the time to track and update projects and makes your team more productive.<\/span><\/p>\n

      What is the Gantt Chart?<\/span><\/h3>\n
      \n

      Gantt chart is the graphical presentation of your data in the project, in this case, the start and end of tasks shown as bars. The relationship between tasks called Dependency is shown as posited arrows and percent completion is shown as a solid section in the bar. The critical path is easiest to visualize in a graph.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
