We at Binfire are proud to announce the establishment a scholarship fund for women studying science or engineering.
Binfire has been actively hiring women software engineers and believes more girls studying in high school should be encouraged to pursue science or engineering degrees when attending college.
Our development office in Israel has been actively supporting the participation of high school girls in the First Robotic competition program. Many of these girls have enrolled in science or engineering degrees in Universities here in Israel after graduating from high school.
To Encourage more girls and young women to choose technical fields, we are establishing a scholarship program for women studying science or engineering in universities.
Women studying software engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Math, or Physics are eligible to apply.
Each scholarship will be worth $2000 and will be awarded each year to five female students studying engineering or science, for a total of $10,000 per year.
To qualify, the students should have finished at least 2 semesters of studies in an accredited college or university in a four-year science/engineering program and have a grade point average of 3.2 (based on 0-4 GPA system, we will adjust for other grading systems accordingly).
To apply, the students should send a 500-word essay describing why they choose to study science or engineering, what are their goals and ambitions when they graduate from college and why they think studying science/engineering can help improve women’s quality of life and positions in the workplace.
The essay should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 28th of May of each year. We will announce the five winners of the scholarship at the beginning of the month of July.
For one of the scholarships, the preference will be given to the female students who have participated in the First Robotic program in the past.
After we will announce the winners of the scholarship, the students need to provide an official copy of their transcript to show they meet the requirements of this scholarship program before the $2000 award could be granted.
We encourage Colleges and Universities to take advantage of this program and bring it to the attention of their students.
If you know any high school or college girl interested in science or engineering, please bring this scholarship program to their attention.
